ABC of Florida
ABC of Florida is a collaboration between
all chapters in the state. It meets
six times per year with
the state lobbyist and representatives from each of the four other ABC chapters in the state.
One of those meetings is in Tallahassee during
the Session, and one is at the state convention site. ABC of
Florida sets the state legislative policy, legal policy and guides
political support for state office holders.

ABC Political Action Committee
Interviews political candidates, collects and distributes funds to candidates on behalf of ABC.

Ambassador Committee
Committee members are assigned to new members for their first year of membership to communicate about upcoming events and encourage them to participate.

Apprenticeship Funding Committee
This is a new committee for 2008 and
reflects the commitment by ABC and its members to further the
services of apprenticeship training in Central Florida. ABC
has established a fund to make grants at the recommendation of
this committee to multi-employer Merit Shop training programs in
all trades.

Business Development Committee
Develops events to increase business opportunities for merit contractors and suppliers, and increase public awareness of ABC.

Construction Industry Council Committee
A coalition supported by ABC, AGC, Home Builders, the Builders Exchange, AIA, CSI, CFRSA, and others. This group meets bimonthly with Orange County building officials and county administrators for discussion and sharing of information relating to county and industry practices.

Education Committee
Mission - increase the levels of skills, knowledge, abilities, and safe behaviors for ABC Members and the Central Florida Construction Industry through consulting and training services.
This mission will be accomplished by the following activities:
Create strategic business relationships with member companies to assist them with identifying, quantifying, and sourcing needs in the training, education, developmental, and safety areas.
Identify, design, develop, deliver, and/or source high quality products and services in response to the identified needs and anticipated needs of member and industry companies.
Develop and embrace quality standards for our products and services and assure compliance with same through effective screening, professional evaluations, and periodic surveys of ABC resources and members.

Excellence In Construction Awards Committee
Organizes and produces the annual Excellence In Construction Awards program.

Plans programs with local lawmakers and supports
ABC of Florida legislative conference. Develops issues and legislative agenda for the association and grassroots support for key legislative initiatives.

The membership committee serves as a primary vehicle for securing new members and retaining current members.

Organizes and plans spring and fall Poker Runs.

Maintains and ensures effective communication of the chapter through various marketing materials. Also enhances overall image of chapter through press relations.

Safety Committee
To change the culture of complacency and acceptance of injury currently prevalent in the construction community by raising awareness of existing unsafe behaviors and changing those behaviors through behavioral based training, recognition of safe work and accountability.
