ABC of Florida
ABC of Florida is a collaboration between all chapters in the state. It meets six times per year with the state lobbyist and representatives from each of the four other ABC chapters in the state. One of those meetings is in Tallahassee during the Session, and one is at the state convention site. ABC of Florida sets the state legislative policy, legal policy and guides political support for state office holders.
ABC Political Action Committee
PAC members collect funds and then interview and distribute funds to political candidates on behalf of ABC.
Apprenticeship Funding Committee
This committee reflects the commitment by ABC and its members to further the services of apprenticeship training in Central Florida. ABC has established a fund to make grants at the recommendation of this committee to multi-employer Merit Shop training programs in all trades.
Business Development Committee
The Business Development Committee develops events to increase business opportunities for merit general, subcontractor, and supplier members while increasing public awareness of ABC.
The Business Development Committee oversees the monthly Builders Business Breakfast meetings with speakers from construction users, including but not limited to developers, municipalities, school districts, universities.
Construction Industry Council
A coalition supported by ABC, the Builders Exchange, AIA and other associations, the Council Industry Council meets throughout the year with Orange and Seminole County, Orlando and Altamonte Springs building officials, fire officials and county administrators for discussion and sharing of information relating to county and industry practices.
Education Committee
The mission of the Education Committee is to increase the levels of skills, knowledge, abilities, and safe behaviors for ABC Members and the Central Florida Construction Industry through consulting and training services.
This mission will be accomplished by the following activities:
Create strategic business relationships with member companies to assist them with identifying, quantifying, and sourcing needs in the training, education, developmental, and safety areas.
Identify, design, develop, deliver, and/or source high quality products and services in response to the identified needs and anticipated needs of member and industry companies.
Develop and embrace quality standards for our products and services and assure compliance with same through effective screening, professional evaluations, and periodic surveys of ABC resources and members.

Excellence In Construction Awards Committee
This Committee produces the Excellence in Construction Awards program which recognizes the outstanding quality of merit shop construction produced by Central Florida ABC member companies.
Golf Committee
The Golf Committee produces the spring, summer, fall, and night golf tournaments.
Legislative Committee
The Legislative Committee plans programs with local lawmakers and supports ABC of Florida legislative conference. The members develops issues and a legislative agenda for the association and grassroots support for key legislative initiatives.
Members Services Committee
Serves a dual purpose – member recruitment and retention. The committee is responsible for building an effective membership recruitment plan which identifies and implements new ways to recruit members. The committee also provides and effective member outreach program using Ambassadors to retain members and create new ways to involve members in Chapter events and activities in order to maintain a strong and growing association.
The "Ambassadors of Goodwill" assist in the sustainability of ABC membership by focusing on member participation in events and other chapter programs.
Ambassadors integrate new members by meeting with them, inviting them to events and ensuring every new member feels welcome when they attend ABC functions.
Ambassadors are assigned to new members or inactive members on a rotating basis, usually every other month, with consideration given to regional location, type of work being done and availability.
Ambassadors will be identified at monthly meetings with pin/button/ribbon so members can identify them as a helpful, friendly face.
Ambassadors should be up-to-date on what is happening at ABC, attend ABC events, and, at times, may visit members to talk about how to take maximize their membership. Ambassadors also conduct workshops on “How to Maximize Your Membership” at least eight times a year.
Poker Run Committee
The Poker Run Committee organizes and plans the spring and fall Poker Runs for motorcycle enthusiasts.
Programs & Events Committee
Programs and Events Committee produces “Member Doing Business with Members” events focused on networking and showcasing opportunities for our members.
Projects include:

• Chili Cook-off
• Develop new networking events
Public Relations & Communications Committee
The Public Relations and Communications Committee promotes ABC, ABC members, merit shop construction and the construction industry to the local media.
Safety Committee
The Safety Committee’s goal is to change the culture of complacency and acceptance of injury currently prevalent in the construction community by raising awareness of existing unsafe behaviors and changing those behaviors through behavioral based training, recognition of safe work and accountability.
Student Chapter Committee
The Student Chapter Committee facilitates communication and maintains an ongoing relationship between college students and ABC members in order to provide a positive image of construction and to attract high quality candidates to the industry.
